2010 has certainly started busily, with Library staff being involved in organising student ID cards and issuing calculators to eligible students. Hopefully everyone had a good break over the summer holidays, although there are always those of us who use the time for DIY home renovations or working in part-time employment who are glad to be back at school!
Late last year the Library software was upgraded, and there are many changes which will affect students. You can read all the info at http://library.polytechnic.tas.edu.au/borrowing but the main ones are
· Students may borrow up to 15 items – limits may vary according to what is borrowed (as long as there are no overdue items).
· Most items can be borrowed for three weeks.
· Students aged over 18 will have fines applied to overdue books.
· Library/ID cards must be used when borrowing items.
Please enjoy our newly created area with comfy couch, coffee table where you can read, do jigsaws, play chess, draughts, Scrabble etc. It’s been great to see it used so well. Please remember – quiet area, no food and drinks, no sleeping/texting/chatting <grin>
Also toward the end of 2009 we set up two Library catalogues (OPACs) at the end of the bookshelves as you walk in the Library door. These computers are there specifically to assist you find the materials you are searching for. If you are unsure or do not know how to use the catalogue, please ask one of the Library staff for assistance.
